Always compress your images

These days you can compress an image without losing quality. Sometimes you can get make a file 50% smaller.

It works like this. A picture has thousands of colors. There are loads of blackish colors that for our eyes are exactly the same. But the files saves each of these blackish colors. So what these image compressions do is combining colors that you can't see the difference in anyway. This makes the image smaller because it has less colors.

How to compress images?

If you have just a couple of images use a quick tool like compressjpeg.com, tinyjpg.com tinypng.com. Upload the images to these sites, download and replace the old images.

Compress images for Wordpress

If you have a WordPress website use a service like imagify.io or EWWWW Image Optimizer. These plugins automatically compress the image when you upload it.

Or you can use a CDN service that resizes and compress your images.
